What Is A Paediatric Primary Survey?
The survey is the initial assessment of a trauma patient here as a kid. Experts say it is a systematic way to treat life-threatening situations in priority order.
Here, we will use the acronym DRABC. It will assist us with the correct order you need to perform a survey.
DRABC
D – Danger
First, ensure you, any bystanders, and the casualty is in the safest condition. Never put your life at risk.
R – Response
Check to know if the casualty is in a conscious state. Gently shake him or her or tap the shoulders. You can ask loudly, ‘Are you fine?’. If there is a baby, you can tap the feet. This way, you may get a response. If you do not find any reply, you can assume they are in an unresponsive situation.
A – Airway
Point out and treat any life-threatening airway issues. If the child is still in the unconscious state, place your hand on their forehead. Tilt their head back and prop the chin up slightly to ensure the airway is clear.
B – Breathing
Then identify any risk of breathing problems. Listen, try to explore signs for over 10 seconds. If the patient is still in an unconscious state, do not delay. Prepare your mind to perform CPR.
At this stage, you must ask for emergency help and call a bystander for a defibrillator.
C – Circulation
In this phase, treat circulation problems. When this has got performed, the paediatric primary survey will be complete. If the kid is still in unresponsive mode, start CPR.
